Magpie Geese

Today we visited Fogg Dam Bird Sanctuary. Originally a tribal wetland it was dammed in the 1950's to grow rice. The project failed in great part due to these geese eating the rice and in 1959 it was designated a bird sanctuary and is now run by the Indigenous people and the NT authority together. It was a STUNNING place with enormous amounts of fantastic birds and other creatures....also crocs but we didn't see any of them. I was delighted to capture these Magpie Geese coming into land - the dull sky is a huge smoke cloud because there was a bushfire further out. We spent about 3 hours there - it was SO relaxing :)
