Young Heron

I went in search of Herons this morning but could only find them in Montrose Basin Nature Reserve amongst the reeds.  It was  -  and still is  -  very windy and the rushes were waving like mad, making it difficult to get a good focus on the only Heron that looked out from the rushes.  Two others refused to make themselves visible.  You can see from his ruffled feathers how the wind was catching them. Ursula K. Le Guin said of Herons 'Elegant, long-legged, silent ............with clear, quiet, colourless eyes'    -   sounds a good description except for the eyes, I always find them bright and fascinating.  They just look at you and never let on what they are thinking about.
