At Long Last!

Gentle Reader, I quite understand your view that this seems to be a rather boring photograph, but believe you me, it is anything but!  Way back on December 10th, 2016, we ordered this handsome mahogany and rosewood demilune commode from a swanky shop on New York's Park Avenue.  It was custom made in England, and we were told it would not be delivered until the middle of March.  As we had bought it to furnish the foyer in our new Boston apartment, which we were not going to take possession of until March 1st, this waiting period was not an issue.  However, once March arrived and then left, and there was no word as to when delivery might be expected, we called the shop to inquire.  There was much hemming and hawing, followed by a promise to phone us back soon with an answer.  The answer was that there had been a "delay" (we suspect the "delay" involved their forgetting to put the order through to the British manufacturers ...) and that we could expect to see it sometime in the middle of May.  May came and went with no commode sightings to report.  Another telephone discussion ensued.  This time we were informed that the manufacturers had been "very busy" and so we could expect to wait until the end of July!  At long last, the thing was delivered this morning, almost eight months after we bought it, and hopefully now you can understand our excitement at seeing it in its new home!
