Treading the grapes

I have been experimenting with the best way of extracting the grape juice from the buckets of grapes that I am picking. The juicer, sieve and stocking produced a strong, sweet juice best diluted with a little water. I also tried squashing the grapes in a plastic bag and then cutting a small hole in the corner to drain the liquid. The hole blocked too easily. So then I thought I would try the traditional method! This produced a light, slightly less sweet, clear juice. I then juiced the pulp and sieved it and this made a grape compote which, in turn, makes a fine flavouring for fromage frais.
