This is Harmony House in Melrose. You could imagine it got the name from the symmetry of the the architecture, but apparently it is named after a plantation in Jamaica where the original owner made his money. Probably in a less than harmonious trade. Having built it, he became a recluse. Maybe his conscience troubled him. 

It now belongs to the National Trust For Scotland and is home to the Borders Book Festival each June.

The sun was shining this morning when we visited, and the bedding plants in the garden were a blaze of colour. But I think I like the mono version better.
