Just past the Mulberry Tree

Charlton House boasts an amazing historical tree. Nearly as old as the house itself the Mulberry tree was an idea from the Jacobeans to feed silk worms. This is the wrong sort of tree (apparently) but it is still a beautiful tree (and currently loaded with fruit!).

Behind the tree the steps lead up to a summer house (attributed to Inigo Jones). Having been left abandoned after the public toilets it housed were closed the council are now refurbishing it as a gallery/performance space.
