My Mini Adventure

Courtesy Car

After dropping L at nursery this morning and arriving back home, we were about to get all the personal items out of our car before its scheduled service when it locked us out!

Both keys would not open it by remote and we could only open it using the manual key but this set off the alarms and would not allow us to start the car. A quick call to the mini emergency hotline and we got the car started... only to find a whole raft of warnings displaying and disappearing too fast to read them!

Oh dear!

To cut a very long morning short, the mini's onboard computer power module has failed and the garage would not let us take it away. It could cut out at any moment and is not safe to have on the roads!

Thankfully with the car being just less than 2 years old, we are covered by the warranty and have a big, shiny courtesy mini for a couple of days whilst the work is being carried out. (It was going to take 3-5 days just to get the part in but when the garage found out they would be fitting the bill for the courtesy car after 2 days, hey presto, the part will be in tomorrow!)

From the 9am service appointment, we didn't get home until after 1pm. We were so grateful and relieved that my mum was around to be able to collect L from nursery at 12:30pm.

Not the day we were expecting, but better to find out now rather than half way along the motorway or something.
