The Old Forge (Wednesday 26th July 2017)

I took some photographs of garden plants yesterday including one of this sedum when a bee was collecting nectar on it, but I wanted to show the new plants in the pond for Blip. I went back to retake the photos today but the plants looked quite different because of the overnight rain and lower temperatures. The fox and cubs were all closed up and far less vivid, and of course there was no bee on the sedum. Flash was required to reproduce the colours on their multiple tiny flowers today.

Lozarhythm Of The Day:
The Crystals - He's A Rebel (recorded 13 July 1962, Gold Star Studios, Hollywood CA)
Darlene Love was born on this day, 26 July 1946 in Los Angeles CA. She sings lead on this single as one of the Blossoms, a session group drafted in to be the Crystals in the studio while the actual group were touring.
The song, written by Gene Pitney, had been turned down by the Shirelles and there was a race between producer Phil Spector and Vikki Carr, who intended it for her debut single, as to who would get to release it first. 'The Crystals' won and had a big hit with the song.
The Blossoms also recorded the next two singles, He's Sure The Boy I Love and Da Doo Ron Ron, but the actual Crystals, featuring La La Brooks, later replaced or augmented the Blossoms' vocals on the released single of the latter.
You can see the real Crystals miming to the Blossoms on a TV show on this video.
