Diable Lake North Cascade Nathional Park

True gem of a lake
Nestled in the North Cascades
Rich aqua waters

" The unique, intense turquoise hue of the lake's water is attributed to the surrounding glaciers that grind rocks into a fine powder that is carried into the lake through creeks."
My Bellingham buddy Peg and I took a mini road trip across the North Cascades hyw as I had wanted to show her the phenomenal scenery there since she moved out a few years ago from Pennsylvania.  The pass did not disappoint at all gifting us with superb weather to make the mini journey.  We stopped all along the way to sample organic blueberries and chocolate raspberry ice cream at the Cascade organic farm ,  be awestruck by all the cascading waterfalls from the high rockery, savor the giant mountian peaks all around us by stopping at roadside vistas and refreshed ourselves overnight staying in the "Cowboy" western town of Winthrop, Wa. on the eastern side of the pass.  A long but very rewarding day!
