shotlandka's weebig world

Across the water

I was thinking recently about the wide variety of shots I have taken from the ferry over the last few years, but don't think I've taken this before. It was sunny and lovely, but far too touristy on the boat today. For those of you in far flung places, like Liverpool, London, and even in distant Edinburgh, this weekend is the Glasgow September holiday weekend, so lots of folk have time off and are heading away for a long weekend. I'm on Arran until Monday, not because of the holiday weekend, but because next Saturday is the TLMS Board meeting, so I will have to work. Lovely to be back here for a few days, especially in weather like this!

Random facts (as I've not been nearly educational enough for quite a while now) the island in this shot is Ailsa Craig, also known as Paddy's Milestone (it's more or less halfway between Belfast and Glasgow), and home to an old quarry, the source of the high quality granite used to make curling stones. It is now a bird sanctuary. Some interesting info about it's history can be read here. Apparently it's for sale if anyone's looking for something to spend their spare cash on!
