Mellbreak

This  lovely panorama was taken towards the end of our walk today. We ascended Mellbreak up the Northern ridge - in the main part  a very steep scree slope. The weather, whilst dry when we left the car park soon became quite hostile and most of the ascent and walk across the top to the southern (highest) peak was in very strong winds and driving rain and hail. To make matters more uncomfortable it was incredibly wet underfoot after all the recent rain. So, by the time this shot was taken we were feeling very weather beaten. One of the party, N,  mis-timed a jump across a boggy patch and ended up to his thighs in the bog. On reaching the shores of Crummock Water N promptly stripped off his waterproofs and headed into the lake to wash his socks thus providing much amusement for everyone else - picture in extras.
