Railside refuse

We finished off one of our railside sites today, working quickly before the threatened rain arrived just after lunch. Once again the forecast wasn't helpful - the morning was dry, but generally cool, overcast and breezy and the afternoon was considerably warmer and sunnier, with no rain until early evening. On my monitoring route I came across this pile of railside junk, which  felt had a certain sculptural quality. It's already being absorbed by the vegetation, with at least ten species of plant visible in this image, though the most abundant, by far, is Creeping Cinquefoil.
