Botanic Delights

We had a wander round the Adelaide botanical Gardens this afternoon, it's not far from our house. It was a lovely wander, capped with seeing lots of different birds - although most of them were scavenging off of plates and tabletops at the small cafe - swamp hens, crested pigeons and what looked like kookaburras but probably weren't. These small parakeet type birds are all around us in the trees but don't get very close. These 2 were fighting over the water supply at the top of the fountain.

As we left the gardens we saw him trees with what looked like hundreds of pods in the topmost branches. Noisy pods. Which turned out to be bats, or rather flying foxes to be accurate. I've never seen so many in my life ever! Sadly they were too high for the iPhone camera to do them any justice.

A lovely afternoon wander though :)
