Another thistle.  The Onopordum acanthium is quite impressive with its woolly silvery prickly leaves often growing up to 3 metres tall and popular with bees and butterflies although the very heavy rain showers were keeping them away.  In the background is the Royal Scots Greys monument representing those soldiers who left Edinburgh to fight in the Boer War in South Africa in 1899.
