Hoy Hills from WWII Observtion Post, Warbeth

The Current Mrs Creel’s birthday celebrations got off to a perfect start at 07.15 a.m. when we walked down towards Swanbister to see the Aircraft Carrier Queen Elizabeth anchor in the Flow.  After a light breakfast with houseguests Bob and Maggie we went across to Stromness to walk up Brinkie’s Brae.  Then it was down to the Graham Place Tearoom.  Lots of folk wished CMC a happy birthday and B and M also met friends from Forres.  Only Marty Scorsese was missing.  Bob and Maggie then departed for Gurness as CMC and I walked around Warbeth.

Tonight it will be a meal in Kirkwall then back to CMC’s sister’s for birthday cake and G and Ts.

CMC thought a launch would come across from HMS QE with her bus pass on a velvet cushion but alas - as the empire has shrunk so standards have dropped.

The startlingly scintillating weather continues.  Mrs Heddle has well and truly lifted her curse.
