Pershore

We visited Pershore this afternoon to collect something, so decided to park the car and be tourists. C used to live there from when he was a teenager until his early 20's, and it hadn't changed much - but it had changed a lot.
It's a really pretty little town and the floral displays everywhere were better than I have seen anywhere.
We were just sauntering along the main street, and could see steam just up ahead. It was a steam engine on its way to a village fête for the weekend, and needed a top up of water. It was so nice to see parked on the High Street. We chatted to the men and evidently it is 97 years old.
I wonder if I'll still be letting off steam if I get to 97?
One lady came out of her house and give them a bit of an earful "How long are you going to be here? It's really not good enough." Crikey - they'd only stopped a few minutes for water for heaven's sake! They politely asked her if they were in her way or she wanted to move her car from her drive - but no - she just wanted them on their way.
When they moved on (it was only a few minutes) they tooted their steam whistle twice and waved to me. C was taking photos from the other side of the road.
After that we walked on down to the old bridge (now pedestrians only) and then Pershore Abbey. We stopped at the Angel Inn for a bite to eat and then home again, after a really pleasant few hours.
