Abscess!

Dazzle just seems to attract illness, although often he brings it on himself ( such as slitting his belly open by jumping a gate .. ). This time we've no idea whet he's done, but an abscess under his jaw bone has appeared. It started yesterday, and with a twice daily bathing and rubbing, it has been dripping steadily, so we hope it will drain itself out.

The vet is due to see some of the other horses next week, so Dazzle will be added to the list. I think if he were mine I'd have the vet outearlier, but in truth, he seems fine. He's still eating and bright and quite likes all the attention he's been getting.

You can see the hole in the left hand side picture. I've just cleaned him up, so it doesn't look too bad, but it gets a bit messy inbetween washes. The biggest concern now is that the flies don't get in it, but as long as it's still dripping it should be ok.
