pub grub...

...and the 'local' in our now weekend 'hood' has the 2017 gong for Western Australia's Best Steak Sandwich (aka 'sarnie').
According the the Library of Congress the first steak sandwich was served at Louis' Lunch New Haven, Connecticut (they claim the fame of creating the first hamburger in 1900) and of course now they come in all shapes, sizes and varieties.

The winner of the gong is a Black Angus steak with crispy bacon, Swiss cheese, marinated tomato, rocket and caramelised onion on Turkish bread with a homemade porcini mushroom bbq sauce...and yes chips.
(There is a heart stopper version too which is too heart stopping to even go into....but in true Aus style does include beetroot!)

Whatever happened to the delicious simple 'French dip'?...thinly sliced roast beef in a baguette with dipping juice (and of course nothing to do with France)
