Fringe Previews Day 1

Today was our first adventure into the EdFringe 2017 on preview day.

It was also my birthday - the image today is not my age!

Flesh and Bone
Pleasance Dome - Venue 23

This was a show based on a Cockney family living within a  tower block in London. I think the unfortunate events of Grenfell Tower didn't help with the connotations of this show. It was a good start to the season with a strong story and some thought provoking storylines throughout.

Tiff Stevenson : Bombshell
Gilded Balloon Teviot - Venue 14

You know there are going to be some dark comedy when the first words out of the comedienne's mouth are about her menstrual cycle. Right of the bat, straight into comparing when she got her period to when some godawful event occured. She expects when a plague of locusts exits her body that this will be a sign of the end of the world.
An unpolished routine with crib sheets on the stage to keep her going. She kept to time, didn't marganalise any member of the audience and was an entertaining hour.

Richard Herring: Oh Frig, I'm 50!
Pleasance Courtyard -Venue 33

Stalwart EdFringe returner. He's been retuning on and off since 1987. Gone is the fresh faced comedian, replaced with the withered bones of a new father, with a 2nd child on the way. He's still funny, reminicing on the past successes, with aspirations to still be on the telly, even if he's a writer for a whole hell of a lot!
I'll still come see him when he does his oh F*** I'm 80.

Genital count for the day: 3/3 shows making mention of bodily parts.
