I knew that the trees round Knightslaw Tower were due to be felled but it's still exciting to see that the work has started. Once they have gone there will be a great view from the top of the rise upon which it stands, and the tower will be eye-catching from a distance.
There will probably be some objections since the area round the base will look worse for few years. However, the dense conifer woodland supports little life and the Estate needs to bring in money. In response to a comment, the area will probably be replanted with broad-leaf trees, as with all the other conifer woodland they've cleared.
