Scattered Polaroids

Today Harry left Bracknell. Until Christmas, maybe - quite a weird thought.

It ended up being the longest day evverrrr - by the time we got home again, me and my mum had spent over 15 hours travelling.
We were all up early, getting everything unpacked from Switzerland and repacked for Falmouth. Keith was in town, so arrived to help us carry our stuff to the station. We set off just after 8 - four trains later, some episodes of Grand Designs and Outnumbered in the 'entertainment carriage', multiple trips to the buffet car, and a few sukokus later, we were in Penryn.

We only had 3 hours before me and Mother needed to be on the train home again, so we traipsed to the campus, found out where Harry's living, unpacked at super-speed, then power-walked to Asda. The power-walking didn't stop when we got there - I have never shopped so quickly. We got back to his room and ate our pasta pots, then headed off.
There were hugs, and goodbyes, and birthday wishes (Monday is his 19th), but impressively few tears from my mum. She did remarkably well.

The journey home was slightly interesting. Our first train to Truro was fine, and we hoped the rest would be.
They weren't.
We caught the train to Reading at 6.20. We spent over an hour sat at Plymouth due to a mechanical fault, until they moved us onto another train to take us the rest of the way (they didn't, however, clear the other train first, so there were people heading for Paddington who thought they were still heading for Penzance!). We'd missed the last train back from Reading by an hour, but they assured us that they'd phoned ahead and arranged taxis for everyone who'd missed connections. They clearly hadn't - we had to spend about an hour stood outside the station in the cold waiting for one, and when it did arrive we had to drop someone in Henley first. We got in at about 2am, 9 hours after leaving Penryn.

A rather interesting day, then. We're both exhausted now.
Harry probably is too, I'm guessing. But he's a fresher, that's the way it should be.
