A slice of Lesley's life

Autumn's here

Cold and wet Sunday morning on the sideline. Well, actually in the modern parlance, behind the 'respect line' aka the 'keep the competitive parents at bay' line. Though actually I thought everyone was pretty well behaved today. The excitement of a great game and the boys winning 4-0 probably helped. And for J keeping a clean sheet in the first half and scoring in the second. The adrenaline of keeping his 100% scoring record seemed to make the boy immune from any feelings of tiredness or cold as he grinned his way home. Slightly worked for me too though there was a rush for the hot showers when we got home. Hope it rubbed off on loyal footie supporter Uncle Matt who turned up with the whole family to add their cheering to the line. Sunday mornings (or possibly afternoons) playing football in the rain were a significant feature of Matt's childhood and I love that he is so supportive of J doing the same. J loves it too as he knows that a well done from his Uncle Matt really means something.

Could have been another food blip as there is now a fine looking topside of beef and tatties roasting away in the oven, soon to be joined by Yorkshires as we wait for some old and rarely seen friends to join us. This morning was a sort of fun but being hunkered down with a roast dinner in the offing with the sound of persistent rain outside makes for a fine Sunday afternoon. At the moment the only thing wrong with this Sunday is that it's going to be followed by Monday.
