Family photo

Spent the afternoon sorting through dozens of old family photographs, trying to work out who was who up to a century ago. This photo gave some vital clues....

It shows my Grandma Rose Dewhirst (actually my great grandmother, nee Lambert), sitting next to my Granny (Sally) and her sister Bertha and brother John, with my great grandfather Frank Dewhirst at the rear. As my Granny was born in 1909, I guess the photo was taken in around 1913.

Like many photos we have, it was printed as a postcard. The rear suggests the photographer was based in Skipton (Grandma's family came from nearby Carleton, I believe), so this sitting probably involved an excursion from their Nelson, Lancashire home.
