Monday: Squamish River

It's British Columbia Day which means a public holiday. It's nice to have a long weekend - it's felt quite busy of late.

We used the time to head up to Squamish for an overnighter. The plan was to show J and S some of the amazing scenery in BC but the continued fire from the haze has scuppered that particular plan. That said, I think they did get a sense of it.

We had lunch at the 'Watershed Grill' in Brackendale, a great location on the edge of the river.

This is also my entry for this month's Blip Challenge. Most visitors to BC head up to Whistler. While the scenery is lovely there, Whistler, as a town, is, in my opinion overrated. It's grown up as a ski resort which makes it very commercial and lacking any sense of being a real place. Squamish, on the other hand, is equally pretty but much more real, so I'd send you there.
