Thompson Canyon, Canada

Started my Rocky Mountaineer trip today. Beautiful scenery mainly obliterated by the smoke from the fires. Could see everything at a low level but knew there was beautiful mountains out there but couldn't see them.
Apart from that a fantastic day. Three great hosts in our carriage, full of stories and history . Beautiful food and drink served all day. No need for dinner here at Kamloops tonight.
Three of us went out for a walk , very pleasant but people with a hint of chest problems were warned not to go out. It certainly is bad but after 10 hours on a train one felt the need for exercise.
Rocky Mountaineer are a well oiled machine. Taxi to the train this morning where a man played beautiful music on a grand piano at the station while we waited. We were then piped onto the train and as it pulled out all the staff were lined up plus the piper to wave us good bye. Apart from the smoke it has been a wonderful day.
Saw Dahl sheep close up out the window so I was chuffed as they were on my bucket list, lots of eagles as well.
Hope to get out of the smoke tomorrow by lunch time at least
