Makatote Viaduct.

Railway viaduct,
Spanning the river below,
Main trunk line complete.


The very impressive Makatote viaduct was the last part of the North Island main trunk line to be completed in 1908. It is 77m high and 262m long. At the moment I happen to reading Jenny Patrick's novel " A leap of Faith" which is based on this great engineering feat.
