Beach

Went to see the film "Dunkirk" today. Not a history of the period but a story of endurance and duty. Go and see it.
To paraphrase Max Hastings's dedication in his book "Overlord" about the return to Europe 4 years later, beaches mean no more to me than buckets and spades. For an excellent book on the subject I recommend "Dunkirk - Retreat to Victory" by Maj Gen Julian Thompson
