The Phoenix Rises

Peace

This from our friend in Hiroshima.

72 years since my hometown was obliterated in an instant. Over 5000 more names were added to the vault under the cenotaph this morning. (Those who die each year who experienced the atomic bombing in Hiroshima are added each year) The total stands at about 300,000 now. A UN resolution to ban nuclear weapons has been formed, but unbelievably Japan has not signed it. Let's see what Abe says.
If you have been to Hiroshima or Nagasaki and seen and heard what happened here, today would be a good day to tell someone who hasn't that Hiroshima's message is not about which side was right or wrong in this war, or which side was the greater victim, but that there is no righteousness in war, and that this war horror in particular should never happen again anywhere. The only way to try to make sure it doesn't happen is to get along better with each other, on an individual level, on a community level, on a national level and on a global level. Communication is everything and it starts with all of us. Come here and see the consequences of when it all goes wrong. The flame still burns.

I read this out at a gathering of like minds.
