Glasgow's Dirty Secret

This is the back quarter of Mitchell Lane off Buchanan Street, Glasgow's most prestigious shopping street, it is filthy with mountains of rotting black bin bags and assorted detritus and smells like an abattoir.

This is the worst I have seen in Glasgow ever but sadly it appears it is now all too common in many of the narrow lanes that provide rear access to restaurants and shops.

I was in Glasgow early today and was struck by the amount of litter on the streets from the night before. This would never happen in London.

Sauchiehall Street is grimy, the entire street needs a hose-down.
