Gillipaw's Journal

Inchcolm Abbey, Firth of Forth

A beautiful calm day for a sail from Port Edgar, South Queensferry. The massive new cruise ship Koningsdam, Holland America Line, was at anchor just beyond the Rail Bridge. 2,650 passengers.

A very interesting sail under the three bridges. We saw lots of seals. Ninety minutes on the island, where we explored the Abbey, and wartime fortifications. A lot of young seabirds, most are flying now, but there were one or two parents being a bit aggressive, protecting their young.

We met up with #1 in the evening, enjoying a curry and catch up. Too many slow 20mph roads, and loads of potholes in central Edinburgh - just saying.
