Grey Mare's Red Berries

Followers will have noted my current obsession with flowing water. It was another nice day so we headed for the Grey Mare's Tail Nature Reserve, owned by the NTS. The waterfall itself is one of Scotland's tallest at 200ft, pouring through a hanging valley below Loch Skeen.

I have returned here many times since the first visits with my parents as a child and it is one of my favourite spots. The reserve is known for its Peregrine Falcons which I have seen before but not today, and for its wild goats which were perched near the top of the falls, on rocky crags I would not venture near. The berries on the Rowans are a foretaste of what lies ahead in the coming months.
