Early Morning Rush Hour

After being brought an early cup of tea in bed at 6:00am this morning by MrsB, it was clear she was keen to head back home early from Anglesey to Knutsford (about 2 hours drive). We set off only an hour later, and I took this shot of Telford's elegant Menai Suspension bridge just before we left the island.

MrsB was in such a rush because she was making Sunday afternoon dinner for our good friends Keith and Paula. They were driving over from their wonderfully-named village of Broadbottom to come for a walk, and then have one of MrsB's famous curries (on her menu today: chicken curry; dahl and dried tuna curry; fried salt-fish and onion garnish; and cabbage and scotch bonnet chilli salad).

So it was, we got back to Knutsford by 9:00 and MrsB started cooking straight away and didn't come up for air until 4 hours later. My allocated tasks, were bathroom cleaning duties; kitchen floor washing; hoovering; table laying; napkin folding; and gardening; I was also down for making Eton Mess for pudding (hey, someone has to raise the culinary bar round here!)

Our mutual friend Martin from Bristol was also calling in with his brother Andrew for a brief cuppa before we ate. They were driving to Bristol from their parent's in Bolton.

Postscript: Photo-wise, it was a toss up today between this morning picture and some discovered evidence of daughter J's past vandalism on one of our dining chairs - and only discovered as I set the table today. I suddenly spotted this one of our 6 chairs tucked away against the wall with J's full name inscribed into the chair-back - as seen in this picture here. We normally keep 4 of these chairs in the dining room, 1 in my office and 1 in J's bedroom, but had only begun to rotate their use around fairly recently, as they are now 20 years old, with some more worn than others. Clearly this one had been well-hidden in J's bedroom for some years, but I had not spotted it before. Just wait till I speak to her!
