Tupelo. The two room house that Elvis was born in stands a few blocks from its original site.
This is the church that he attended which was also originally a few blocks away and where Elvis supposedly started his musical journey.
I was last here in January 2010. We were at Graceland for his seventy fifth and it was freezing! I like Elvis but I can't fathom the devotion of his fans, despite one of by best friends of nearly forty years, and Elvis devotee, trying to explain it to me. In the morning I will write my friend's name on the wall at Graceland once again and take a picture of it.
Tomorrow afternoon we'll go to Sun Studios. Now, that is a magical place.
