Cales Fonts

The pretty harbour of Cales Fonts, a typical Menorcan scene, found just south of the capital city, Mao. 

I am here to walk the GR223, the long-distance and fully waymarked circumnavigation of the island. Known as the "Cami de Cavalls", it is based on a centuries' old pathway which was used to enable horse riders to be quickly despatched to respond to any threat of invasion.

I'm hoping to complete it in 9 days, but I'll see if my feet hold up under the heat and rugged terrain.
