when they said "years pass just like trains" she seemed to be oblivious. 
it was a joke, just as anything else. whatever suggestion she faced made her laugh. modern day humans were sarcastically dramatic, or were they dramatically sarcastic? 

the "she" is now awake. reborn from scratch again. 
just as any other period in which she felt alive, she felt someone else's liveliness: a stranger's breath, a foreign eye sparkle.
