Occasional Drinker

(Or Yes, I Would Recommend Heavy Drinking)

On those occasions
when the company, the location
and the time is right,
I would advocate getting tight.

As the wine flows
so does the mind more freely
wander and stress
packs its rucksack and goes
for a long hike elsewhere.

The world appears to be
an especially fine place
when you’re off your face.
See those shining stars?
You can easily reach for them.

But is it worth
the thick head
and most of the next day
spent in bed?

On occasions, yes!
