saw tooth...

...and the ruby red.

Winter and citrus the perfect combo and with ruby red grapefruit fresh picked not only in Marissa's orchard but from our very own tree!! breakfast is sweet and fresh and delicious.
The saw tooth gidget has long been in the family and is the best grapefruit preparer ever...flexible enough to scoop around the half globe fruit and firm enough to cut away each segment.

A French surgeon from Napoleon's army captured  at Trafalgar apparently introduced grapefruit to Florida...via the Bahamas were he was imprisoned and the fruit grew in abundance.

Meanwhile back in the early 1970s, grapefruit sprinkled with brown sugar and grilled  was THE 'entree' at our little Liverpudlian Rose Lane student flat above the butcher's shop.
A bonus...the oven heated the freezing student kitchen as well as cooked!
