...the FingerBoard of the old Hofner bass.

Precision needed here -  the fret-slots were cut on the FB.

Clamped the FB to the neck - I drilled 2 x 2mm holes through the 1st & 19th fret slots & 5mm into the neck beneath so I could insert 2mm plastic cylinders into the neck like dowels.

Yah, yah yah - am boring myself to tears...

It worked a treat - smeared the neck with glue using the high-tech social finger of my right hand & placing the neck FB down on a flat surface - applied clamps. Satisfying squeaks as the plastic "dowels" engaged!
