Spent time today in what has been described as "a shining model of urban regeneration" also known as Parque das Nações. A celebration of modern architecture and regeneration apparently. Think Edinburgh Waterfront but better designed, better architecture, better transport links and much better weather but – just like Edinburgh's Waterfront – rather soulless. Lots of water features around the place as well as Europe's second largest aquarium – that must be really annoying for them after all the effort and money they've poured into the place.

The main picture was taken in the Estação de Oriente with the extras featuring some of the sights around the area before heading back for dinner at a much posher and more modern restaurant than the one last night. All this modernism appears to have rubbed off on us.

It won't last...
