High Royds

Today we were in Menston (Nr, Leeds) - more specifically we had a drive around the High Royds Estate.  This estate was originally the High Royds Hospital - first opened on October 8, 1888 as the West Riding Pauper Lunatic Asylum designed to house over 900 inmates.
The facility closed in 2003 when the building became outdated and unsuited to modern psychiatric practices.
The 300 acre site has since been developed for residential use, some of which is in the old hospital buildings.
Many of the conversions of the original buildings seem to have been done to a very high standard.
