Food for the bees

Very wet and stormy today and no outside blip. However, the weather is due to improve a bit tomorrow, and so I'm hopping I can return to the apiary and feed the remaining two gives with sugar syrup. We're now giving them something called "2:1", which means 2kg of sugar to 1 litre of water. I think the easiest way to make this is in my jam pan and here is one load. Hopefully, the bees will turn this into stores in the next couple of weeks and will be ready to bed down for the winter.

I'm amazed that the chickens can still produce eggs when there's a howling gale outside, but they can :o)
