Taken at the Boys' Ploughing Match in S Ronaldsay. Love this annual 'Festival of the Horse' where children (generally the girls) dress up in costumes to represent the old working horses, and the lads plough the local beach with miniature ploughs, helped by dads/grandpas/whoever. I don't know of anything like it elsewhere. Unfortunately the heavens opened and we had to guide semi-blind Dad back to the car over the tumbled stones of the beach - we were soaked but he managed magnificently!

Also (blowing my own trumpet!) I won a golf comp (be honest, not many ladies entered!) but the main thing was having fun on a squelchy course and sinking a few drinks with friends later in the evening. I will miss this place so much when we have to return south soon.
