Lighting it up

I have been puzzling about how I can describe the Australian bush, and I've decided it's a lost cause.

The wattle is lighting it up at the moment, and there is no way any image can do it justice.  And it's not just the colour on a drab day - it's the smell as well.  It all comes together with an explosion of Australian-ness

This particular wattle is Acacia pycnantha, found all over the country, and is the specific species which is Australia's National Flower.

To set everyone's mind at ease, the Rower got safely home last night; although I nearly had kittens when I saw an ambulance gurney being wheeled through.  A few minutes later he came walking out on his own two feet.  For which we truly give thanks.
