When your boss returns from her trip to the UK and gives the office manager the present you really, really wanted (sheep brooch).  My present is the extra.   I know I sound ungrateful, but...

I now have to get my A into G and go to the local council's Citizen of the Year Award tonight.  My date has had to cancel due to illness so I have to go alone and try to look nonchalant and sophisticated. Desperate and dateless in Malvern!
