Lathyrus Odoratus

Adonis

Today's butterfly is the Adonis Blue just about reaching peak numbers for the second brood of the year (East Chiltington). The stunning bright blue of the male's upperwings gives the species its name while the female (bottom) is a much more subdued brown. Not an addition to my species count for the year as I had already seen the Adonis back in June.
