AbstractThursday...

...some of the rigging of the Denis Sullivan, the world's only recreation of a 19th Century three masted Great Lakes Schooner, built right here in Milwaukee in the year 2000 by professional shipwrights and some 1000 volunteers . It's docked inside the harbor in front of the Discovery World Museum, and I've included a picture of the whole ship in the extras.
The ship is a very modern educational sailing vessel, with two diesel engines, a scientific laboratory, computers, and modern communication and navigation equipment. It can also, however, sail solely on wind power. Whether it's using it's engines, or the wind, it's a thrill to see it on the Lake with all it's sails unfurled, looking like it drifted right out of the past into the present!  :))
