The Way I See Things

Monochrome

R and I completed Project Reclaim the Front Garden today.

"It won't take long," I said. "I've done most of that side border already."

Wrong.

Three barrow-loads later, we were both moving like centenarians, and making a range of distress calls every time we had to sit down or stand up. To add insult to injury, R's Fitbit didn't think we'd done anything praiseworthy.

Tomorrow I will mostly be sitting in a recliner with my feet on a footstool, doing nothing. Oh, wait....

Tomorrow I will mostly be moving furniture.

Sigh....

Today's prompt for the 30DaysofComposition project in A Year With My Camera is mono, but as Emma Davies pointed out in this week's email, monochrome doesn't have to mean black and white. So this is a chrysanthemum flower, shot high-key on my light pad: I bracketed three exposures at 0, +1 and +2 stops, adding a pop of flash to light the very centre of the bloom, and then blended them via the HDR function in Lightroom.

This evening I finished working on my shots from yesterday; I've added a couple of dozen to my Upton Warren album on Facebook, starting here.
