Sharing a bit of naughtiness

from his mobile? These two were taking time out from their stewarding duties in the main ring at the Melplash Agricultural Show.  The weather was great and our family gave a surprise picnic lunch party for my 80 year old sister - 32 managed to attend!  It is a wonderful show that manages to balance the retail side that is the main income support along with the crowds so that the huge marquees can be hired for the exhibits of flowers/vegetables/bees/cider/mead/sheep-fleeces/woodwork/you name it.  Amongst so many things there was a sheep shearing competition, ferret and dog racing and probably the best tent of all one was one that got kids interested in farming - where food comes from.  You could milk a pretend cow udder and there were different grains to feel and mill by hand showing where the product ended in its packet on the shelves, identification of different tree leaves and even a combine simulator so kids could harvest a field of wheat. Pigs, sheep, horses, goats, donkeys and Shire horses were judged and pony and horse jumping competitions. The extra is the Shire runner up - did you know they were an endangered species?

Bless for the lovely comments and awards for my talented son-in-law, the animal whisperer.  He really is a star!
