Brave Blue World

Beans, beans, good for your heart...

...the more you eat, the more those lovely bacteria in one's large intestine mop up what the enzymes in one's small intestine couldn't do - namely break down the big sugars like raffinose and stachyose. Whilst doing so they produce carbon dioxide, hydrogen and methane which has consequences that, even having been round the sun 37 times, I find extremely amusing.

As the Red Baron (in Blackadder Goes Forth - Private Plane) put it; 'How lucky you English are to find the toilet so amusing. For us, it is a mundane and functional item. For you it is the basis of an entire culture.'

Quite right too.
