Feathered Rainbows

There are a couple of Crimson Bottlebrush trees (Callistemon citrinus) in my garden which are in glorious full flower at this time of the year and worth a blip on their own account.

Even better though is this image of a pair of Rainbow Lorikeets feasting on their nectar; these birds have unusual hairy tongues that soak up the sweetness. I hung around for about half an hour, hoping for a clear shot of one and was rewarded by these two zooming in in formation and landing in a lucky (for me) spot.
